Flat-fee financial planning fees.

Transparency is fundamental at Just Advising. I believe what you get and what you pay should be very straightforward.

Traditional financial advising firms are packed with high costs, commissions, and/or hidden fees. At Just Advising, I want to break down those conflicts of interest. To be fair, my model doesn’t eliminate conflicts of interest since you are still paying me for a service, but I believe this is a step in the right direction. As a flat-fee financial advisor based in Raleigh, NC, I accept no commissions and make no product sales. I am only compensated by my clients, and I chose to set up my practice this way because I feel that charging flat fees aligns my interest with yours.

flexible payment options.

I offer transparent, flat-fee pricing with two convenient payment structures:

Standard Option:

  • 50% deposit upfront and 50% due upon completion

Monthly Option:

  • Six equal monthly installments

Real life example of how I charge clients a flat-fee:

Standard Option: Paul and Chani are a 28-year-old married couple. They opt for the standard option and pay a flat $1,350 at the beginning of the collaboration during the onboarding phase. After Paul and Chani receive their financial plan from their financial planner, Justin, they are billed the remaining $1,350. The collaboration is now complete and no fees remain to be paid.

Monthly Option: Leto and Jessica are a 35-year-old married couple. They opt for the monthly option and begin paying $450/month at the beginning of the collaboration during the onboarding phase. After six successful monthly payments and the financial plan is delivered by their financial planner, Justin, the collaboration is now complete and no fees remain to be paid.

The examples above are for the Expedition service, but both options are available for the Provision service. The formulas for the Standard and Monthly Option are consistent between services.

my fee structure.

I am compensated by flat financial planning fees for financial planning services.

Comprehensive (Expedition) Service:

  • Individuals: $1,800

  • Married and non-married couples: $2,700

À la carte (Provisions) Service:

  • Individuals: $360/provision

  • Married and non-married couples: $540/provision

There are no commissions or hidden costs. The only compensation I receive is what you see above.

how did I decide on my expedition fee?

To try and make my fee more affordable, I started with you in mind.

Since I mostly work with people in their 20s and 30s, I researched the median salary for this demographic in the U.S. To keep my financial planning services accessible, and bear in mind uncontrollable variable, I used 3% of that median salary range as my fee for an individual. For a couple, I simply multiplied it by 1.50. The additional person now only raises the cost by 50% instead of doubling it.

how did I decide on my provisions fee?

Again, I started with you in mind.

Since there are five provision options to choose from, I simply divided my expedition fee by five and made that the price per provision for individuals and couples.

what does flat-fee mean?

A flat-fee financial advisor is paid a flat fee, in dollars, for wealth management and investment management services.

You can expect:

  • Fully aligned advice

  • Avoidance and minimization of conflicts of interest

  • Clear, transparent pricing stated in dollar amounts upfront

  • Full disclosure, in writing, of all fees we earn from you

  • Recommendations that are not biased by the desire to increase the amount of money we manage on your behalf

I will never:

  • Accept stock commissions

  • Charge you more just because your portfolio size increased

  • Accept insurance commissions

  • Accept kickbacks for referring you to someone or for recommending a product to you

  • Earn more money based on the number of investment/financial products you buy

  • Earn more money if you invest in investment/financial products we recommend

  • Suggest that you take a certain action in order to keep more money invested with us instead of put to uses outside your portfolio, such as paying down debt or buying real estate
